Несмотря на то, что металлокерамические протезы на основе сплавов из благородных металлов десятилетиями подтверждали свою эффективность как с клинической, так и с эстетической точек зрения, всё чаще пациенты настаивают на изготовлении цельнокерамического стоматологического протеза. Важными причинами в стремлении к данной конструкции являются: отсутствие металла и желание пациента получить безукоризненную эстетику. Кроме того, от стоматологических материалов ожидают длительного срока службы и высокого уровня биологической совместимости.
В то же время, распространённые в настоящий момент в зуботехнических лабораторияхтехнологии гарантируют, в основном, надёжное изготовление только одиночных безметалловых коронок. Использование систем изготовления цельнокерамических работ для производства мостов было, если и возможно, то только с рядом значительных ограничений. С клинической же стороны такие конструкции имели более высокий процент случаев возникновения повреждений. Даже если речь идёт о многоединичных мостах для протезирования фронтальных или жевательных зубов, желание многих пациентов иметь зуботехническую конструкцию, не содержащую металл, теперь может быть осуществлена. А различные ограничения при протезировании безметалловой керамикой остались в прошлом.
Достигнуть данной цели удалось компании “DEGUSSA DENTAL” ( с апреля 2002 г. “DEGUDENT“) , которая разработала систему изготовления цельнокерамических реставраций по технологии САМ (COMPUTER AIDED MANUFACTORING) под названием “CERCON“, впервые представленную специалистами во время выставки IDS 2001 в Кёльне и которая вызвала большой профессиональный интерес.
